"It's as if anticipating the impending disaster long before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I wrote the mini-album "Metta" and filmed this video with friends. The release was originally planned for March 2022, but I decided to release it only now.
I deeply empathize with everyone suffering from the actions of my country in Ukraine, Syria, Libya, Georgia, Armenia, Central Asia, and within Russia—from civilians to the military, from activists to journalists. I despise the current government in Russia, all the enforcers who have unleashed the apparatus of repression, destroying those who oppose the decisions of the ruling elite. I loathe the deeply chauvinistic rhetoric of propaganda, turning my people into fascists and cannon fodder. I pray for all the women and children humiliated, killed, and tarnished by our "patriots." I sympathize with all oppressed peoples in Russia—Buryats and Yakuts, Tuvans and Tatars, Mari and Nanaits, Avars and Dargins, and all "non-Russian" nationalities, oppressed and gradually erased from the country's landscape not only due to mobilization at the front lines but also in peacetime, erased from history along with their languages, traditions, and cultures.
Seemingly aggressive at first glance, the "Metta" album speaks of love and acceptance. "Metta," translated from Pali, means loving-kindness, friendliness, goodwill, agreement, and benevolent will. This music is about a kind slam and releasing all negativity into dance. I believe that goodness will prevail, we will redeem all our mistakes, and we will build a new society based on awareness and faith in humanity. I know love will triumph, and the darkest night is just before dawn.
